About Isadora Capraro

Isadora Capraro (b. 1994, Italy) received a classical art education in Buenos Aires before relocating to the United States. Capraro's large-scale, emotionally charged paintings display her exploration of subconscious imagery, personal mythology, and psychological space.

Capraro’s work often features figures caught in liminal moments—between action and stillness, a breath held just before release. Set against vivid, textural backdrops, these figures inhabit psychologically charged intimate environments. Using bold color, layered symbolism, and gestures suspended in time, Capraro evokes a dreamlike environment.

Her artistic process is intuitive and rooted in memory. She draws from personal archives, dreams, literature, and archetypal imagery to build visual narratives that explore femininity, sensuality, and resilience. Influenced by the subconscious and the symbolic, her paintings seek not to resolve but to dwell in emotional complexity—where strength is inseparable from vulnerability, and beauty is charged with quiet power.

Isadora Capraro's artistic practice focuses on the relationship between symbols and the subconscious drive. Drawing on a complex personal mythology, the artist utilizes abstraction and symbolism to evoke this synergy between the two.

Isadora Capraro's works are featured in private collections around the world, including in the Middle East, Europe, as well as North and South America. Her solo shows include “Memories of an Imagined World” (2023) and “Evocation” (2024). Recent group exhibitions include “SOMOS” at the Long Island Museum (2023), “The Power of Two” at the Long Island Museum (2024), “Gradara Contemporanea” with Art Preview (2023), “East End Collected 7” at the Southhampton Arts Center (2023), “Detour III” at East End Arts (2022), “Ficciones” at Ki Smith Gallery (2021), “En plein air reloaded: green fuse” at the Black and White Gallery (2021), “East End Collected 6” at the Southhampton Arts Center (2021) and “Takeover 2020 Artists in residence” at the Southhampton Arts Center (2021). Capraro’s prizes include the “Andy Warhol Visual Arts Program Grant” and the “Hamptons Arts Network Artist Relief Fund”. She has also completed residencies at the Southhampton Arts Center and Gambit Works.
